Winnipeg firefighters have brought a fire under control at the Maple Leaf Foods plant on Lagimodiere Boulevard.

Crews were dispatched to the working fire shortly after 3 p.m. CT at the meat processing plant, located on Lagimodiere and Marion Street.

Plant employees were evacuated from the building to wait in city buses.

There is no word yet on the cause of the fire, or the extent of damage to the plant.
