Ten people are vying to become Winnipeg's newest city councillor in a byelection scheduled for Nov. 26.
Nominations in the St. Vital ward closed on Friday afternoon, and the official list of candidates was released on Saturday.
The St. Vital candidates are, in alphabetical order:
- Mike Ducharme
- Marty Green
- Steven Hennessey
- Hammad Khan
- Brian Mayes
- Greg Nordman
- Carl Osato
- Terry Wachniak
- Beverley Watson
- Harry Wolbert
They are hoping to replace Gord Steeves, who stepped down earlier this year to run for the Progressive Conservatives in this fall's provincial election.
After he failed to unseat Seine River NDP incumbent Theresa Oswald in the Oct. 4 election, Steeves said he would not try to get his old civic seat back.
The city will also be holding byelections on Nov. 26 to fill school trustee vacancies on the Winnipeg School Division (Ward 1) and Louis Riel School Division (Ward 2).
