Country music superstar Keith Urban caused an eruption at Winnipeg's MTS Centre and sent a buzz through the Twittersphere on Thursday night.

Shrieking fans of singer were pushed into another realm of delirium when he donned a Winnipeg Jets hockey jersey during an encore at his concert and congratulated the city on the team's return.

"Keith Urban is epic by himself. Keith Urban in a Jets jersey? Freakin' wild!" tweeted Ada Hui.

"Keith Urban is wearing a Winnipeg Jets jersey!! Fricken awesome!!" posted grantis m.

The sight of Urban in the jersey triggered a long and loud chant of "go Jets go" by the 10,000-strong crowd.

"GO JETS GO CHANT!!!! KEITH URBAN YA BABY!!!" tweeted ifookin.

The cheers prompted Urban to remark that he should consider changing his name to Jets and lap up the excitement for the team.

But not everyone on Twitter was pleased about Urban getting a Jersey before they are available to the public until the end of October.

"Keith urban getting to wear a Jets jersey before the rest of us? C'mon!" tweeted Eric Peters.

"How unfair is that? Isn't it enough he also has nicer hair?" tweeted Nicky Makris.
