A man, 26, faces a charge of first degree murder in connection with the death of Winnipegger Gina Swanson in May.
Police said Schuyler Francis Vanwissen, 26, was arrested in Toronto on Friday.
Schuyler Francis Vanwissen, 26, has been charged in the death of Gina Swanson, 33.
Winnipeg police said the victim and accused appear to have been strangers.
"My understanding as to the relationship between the accused and the victim in this matter is that they are complete strangers. There is no relationship that I am aware of," said Const. Jason Michalyshen.
Swanson's body was found May 14 in her home in the 1000 block of Edderton Avenue in Fort Garry.
The 33-year-old woman died of upper body injuries, police said at the time.
Vanwissen, who is charged with first degree murder and assault with a weapon, was returned to Winnipeg on Saturday and remains in custody.
