The driver of a car that struck a parked tractor-trailer in May is facing impaired driving charges. (CBC)Charges have been laid in a collision that sent two people to hospital with serious injuries in the spring.
On May 6, Winnipeg Police Service officers and Emergency Services personnel were sent to a serious crash in the area of Lucas Avenue and Brookside Boulevard (Route 90).
Officers found a vehicle that appeared to have collided with a parked semi-tractor trailer in a parking lot in the area of the 500 block of Oak Point Highway.
Witnesses said a Honda Civic was travelling at a high rate of speed when it missed the curve, crossed a boulevard, flew over a ditch, hit a pole before crashing into the trailer.
The driver, 33, was taken to hospital in critical condition, while a woman, 32, was reported in stable condition.
The driver faces several charges including impaired driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm, police said in a news release. He has been released on a promise to appear in court.
