Teen boy killed in ATV crash

A 14-year-old boy was killed after an ATV he was driving was involved in a highway crash with a van.
The boy's all-terrain vehicle was crossing the highway at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday when it was struck by the van.
The collision occurred on Highway 268, about 45 kilometers northeast of Swan River, which is near the border with Saskatchewan in western Manitoba.
The boy and three occupants of the van were all transported to the Swan River Valley Hospital.
The boy, from the nearby Rural Municipality Minitonas, was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The people from the van were treated for minor injuries and released.
The boy's name is not being released, RCMP said.
