Irish rockers U2 are setting up shop in Winnipeg's Burton Cummings Theatre, three days before their concert Sunday at Canad Inns Stadium.

A spokesperson from the theatre would not confirm the band is at the facility, saying only the venue is booked for a private event.

However, a number of semi-trailer units were parked at the Burt, and crews were seen moving equipment marked with U2 and "World Tour" into the theatre.

The space has been booked by a company called Upstaging, from Chicago, which is known for creating video productions for bands such as The Police, AC/DC, Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Kings of Leon, Eric Clapton, and Paul McCartney.

According to fan boards and Twitter posts about U2, the band has been planning on shooting a video to mark the 20th anniversary of their Achtung Baby album.

Winnipeg wasn’t initially part of the itinerary for the current 360-degree tour, which was originally scheduled to cross North America during the summer of 2010. It was postponed when frontman Bono had to undergo emergency back surgery in May.

He had suffered partial paralysis in his lower leg due to a severely compressed sciatic nerve.

The band last stopped in Winnipeg in 1997, when it played a concert at the stadium as part of its PopMart tour.
