It's another day of extreme windchill conditions in parts of western Manitoba.

Bitterly cold winds from a ridge of high pressure in Saskatchewan, combined with temperatures around – 30 C are producing windchill values in the – 40 C range in Brandon, Carberry, Treherne, Swan River, Duck Mountain and the Porcupine Provincial Forest, according to Environment Canada.

At those extreme windchill values frostbite on exposed skin can occur in less than 10 minutes.

The warning had also extended into much of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg, Portage la Prairie, St. Adolphe, Selkirk, Steinbach, the Interlake and the Red River Vally but was lifted at about 4 a.m.

The wind should diminish Wednesday morning as the ridge of high pressure moves out.
