Classes are on as scheduled at the University of Winnipeg following a watermain break that forced the evacuation of some areas on Tuesday.

The break soaked an area along Spence Street at about 7:30 p.m. and some water found its way into lower levels of the school's Bulman building. School security evacuated some areas and asked people to move to higher floors, according to CBC reporter Sean Kavanagh.

Student Alanna Makinson was in a meeting with about three dozen other people when they were told to move out.

"There was actually water running all down the wall. We are lucky we did move. We would probably have been in a little bit of water, so to speak," she said.

A U of W official said Wednesday morning there is still a bit of water in the basement but it's minor.
