Lady Gaga posted on her Twitter page that she 'can't stop crying' watching the video of Maria Aragon. (Twitter.com)Maria Aragon, 10, of Winnipeg is getting a lot of attention on YouTube thanks to an endorsement by pop superstar Lady Gaga.
Winnipeg singing sensation Maria Aragon chatted and sang with superstar Lady Gaga Friday, and the pair will duet in Toronto on March 3.
The YouTube video of 10-year-old Winnipegger Maria Aragon singing a cover of Lady Gaga's Born This Way has gone viral -- from 3,100 to more than two million views in less than 24 hours.
Aragon hooked up with her singing idol Friday by phone and pair chatted and sang a duet together on a radio broadcast.
It was a Twitter post by Lady Gaga that started all of the media craziness in Aragon's world.
"Can't stop crying watching this. This is why I make music. She is the future," Gaga's tweeted on Friday about Aragon's version of the song, including a link to the video.
The video, posted Feb. 16, shows the young girl playing keyboard and belting out the tune.
Prior to Gaga's mention on Twitter, the video had been viewed about 3,100 times. Within a couple of hours of the Twitter endorsement, the views on Aragon's video had jumped to 61,000.
Then the praise by Gaga hit the mainstream news and Aragon was suddenly being interviewed around Winnipeg and appeared on a local radio station.
