A 31-year-old man has been charged in connection with a number of break-ins as well as the theft of an SUV.

Police allege he wore a balaclava to conceal his face and broke into the front door of a condominium block on Academy Road on Jan. 2.

He went into the underground parkade and broke into a vehicle and stole a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit as well as a $35,000 SUV, police said.

The next day, he allegedly broke into a pair of service vehicles parked outside a business in the 500 block of Wall Street and stole two GPS units.

He then broke into the store and was preparing to load a variety of electronics into the stolen SUV when police pulled up, responding to a security alarm.

The man has been charged with break-and-enter, possession of break-in tools, wearing a disguise with intent to commit a crime, theft and failure to comply with previous court orders.

He has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
