Two women have been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a convenience store in Winnipeg's West End.

According to police, two women armed with knives, went into the store in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The women, who had their faces concealed, threatened a customer and the store clerk.

The clerk sustained a minor injury to her upper body during the robbery, police said.

The women fled the store after being given undisclosed amounts of cash and cigarettes, police said.

Officers located both women, aged 18 and 19, and recovered the cash and cigarettes.

They have been charged with robbery with weapon, wearing a disguise with intent and assault with a weapon.

They have been detained in custody.
