A forest fire burns close to the Northern Manitoba community of Nelson House. (Muriel Hart) Buses are on standby waiting to evacuate a remote Manitoba community after a forest fire broke out and was noticed Monday morning.
Provincial fire crews and firefighters in Nelson House, Man. are battling the blaze, and the government has sent four water bomber aircraft to the scene.
While no homes in the community are currently threatened, residents have been told to be ready to leave at a moment's notice.
Nelson House is located 850 kilometres north of Winnipeg
