RCMP in Grand Rapids, Man., are turning to the public for help after two guns and ammunition were stolen from a government office last weekend.

Police said that sometime between Mar. 26 and 28, the local office of the provincial Department of Natural Resources was broken into.

Two long guns — either rifles or shotguns — were taken from a gun cabinet, along with ammunition, police said.

RCMP did not say if the cabinet was locked at the time of the theft.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the local RCMP detachment at 204-639-2469 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-782-8477.

Grand Rapids is about 400 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg.
