Three people were arrested after a high-speed police chase of a stolen vehicle in Winnipeg Monday morning.

Speeds topped 100 kilometres per hour at times, police said.

The vehicle was first spotted driving erratically near the Redwood Bridge in the city's North End at about 1:15 a.m.

When police started following the car, the driver accelerated into Elmwood and raced along Henderson Highway before turning onto Kimberley Street and into East Kildonan.

The chase came to a crashing halt about 10 minutes after it began. The stolen vehicle collided with the police cruiser at Munroe Avenue and London Street then bounced into a tree in the front yard of a home.

At one point during the pursuit a female jumped from the car in a failed bid to flee, police said.

Initially, it appeared she had been thrown from the car but when officers caught up with her, she had cocaine in her possession, police said.

The girl, 16, was arrested along with two men, aged 24 and 19, who were still in the vehicle when it crashed.

They have all been charged with a variety of offenses while the 19-year-old, who was driving the stolen car, has also been charged with breaches from previous court convictions.

The men have been detained in custody while the girl was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.

No one was hurt in the incident.
