Highway conditions are starting to improve in southern Manitoba as a storm subsides.

Environment Canada said the worst of the storm has passed and all travel advisories have been lifted for the area, but caution is urged since highways are still snowcovered and slippery.

Conditions are also improving in North Dakota, allowing for interstate 29 to reopen between the Canadian border and Grand Forks.

Winnipeg received about 15 centimetres of snow, while areas south of the city received upwards of 25.

Interstate 29 runs south from its border junction with Highway 75, which stretches from the southern outskirts of Winnipeg to Iowa.

The interstate remains closed south of Grand Forks.
