A man who allegedly went on a drunken rampage in a stolen Hummer in west Winnipeg last weekend has been arrested, police said on Wednesday.
At 7:20 a.m. CT on Sunday, officers were notified of a stolen SUV near Ness Avenue and Stradford Street after the vehicle was seen driving erratically.
Damage to people's property was seen in a number of locations along Ness Avenue and Acheson Drive, police said at the time. The large vehicle was also seen being driven on area sidewalks.
Wednesday, they said the Hummer had been stolen from the area of Acheson Drive and Sonnichsen Place. The vehicle had been left running in the cold with the keys inside.
The SUV was recovered by RCMP on Monday in an area on the southwest outskirts of the city, police said.
Police said they have arrested a 45-year-old man. He's facing charges of impaired driving, theft over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and six counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
The suspect was not identified by police.
He was released from their custody on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
