Two people have been charged in connection with knifepoint robberies in Winnipeg on Sunday.
Police said the first robbery happened at 9:30 p.m. when two males confronted a 22-year-old woman and a 17-year-old male in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Powers Street in the city's North End.
One of the robbers flashed a knife and took personal property from the victims.
About 20 minutes later — and three blocks away in the area of Flora Avenue and Charles Street — three people were robbed of personal property by two males, one of whom was armed with a knife, police said.
No one was injured during either robbery, police said.
Officers called to the area located and arrested the suspects in the area of King Street and Dufferin Avenue.
Melvin James Robert Traverse, 21, has been charged with five counts of robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation.
He has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
A 17-year-old male youth has also been charged with three counts of robbery with a weapon, as well as possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He is being held at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
