The first death due to the fall outbreak of the H1N1 virus has occurred in Manitoba.

Health officials announced the person's death on Tuesday, but did not provide many details, only that it was an adult between ages 18 and 65 who had underlying medical conditions.

Officials would not say where the person lived. The provincial government's protocol since the spring outbreak of H1N1, or swine flu, has been to not reveal which communities have confirmed cases, for fear it will stigmatize them.

There were seven deaths in Manitoba during the spring wave of the virus.

The province is also reporting there are now 66 lab-confirmed cases of swine flu in Manitoba, with many more people still being tested.
