A head-on collision killed a 19-year-old man and sent another to hospital in critical condition on Monday evening.
According to the RCMP, the crash happened just before 8 p.m. about 30 kilometres south of Winnipeg on Highway 59, about two kilometres south of Highway 311.
The 19-year-old victim, from the town of Grunthal, was the driver of a northbound car that collided with a southbound pick-up truck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, a 37-year-old man from the village of St. Pierre-Jolys, was transported to Winnipeg's Health Sciences Centre in critical condition.
There were no eyewitnesses, and the investigation into the cause of the collision is continuing, RCMP said.
The names of the people in the collision have not been released by police.
