A 35-year-old man faces a series of charges in connection with a fatal hit and run in Winnipeg last weekend.

Melissa Ranville, 19, was killed after being hit by a car around 10:45 p.m. last Friday in the Inkster Industrial Park on Sheppard Street, between Church Avenue and Inkster Boulevard.

Police said Thursday they were able to track down a suspect after finding a car they believe was involved in the incident. The 2004 Nissan belongs to an acquaintance of the accused man, whose name was not released because investigators have not finished interviewing witnesses.

The suspect has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death, driving while disqualified and failing to comply with court conditions, police said.
