Winnipeg Blue Bombers president Lyle Bauer has condemned the actions of the scout accused of spying on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Bauer told reporters Wednesday that the scout, Ron Trentini, was not asked to take notes on Hamilton's formations at practice.

"It should be noted that the [Blue Bombers] did not engage the services of this individual who attended an open practice for said purposes, nor do we condone any such actions," Bauer said in a statement.

"Although we have used the services of this individual in the past, it has been in the area of personnel scouting, including tracking of Canadian and CIS [Canadian Interuniversity Sport] players."

Trentini identified himself to Tiger-Cats staff members as a friend of Winnipeg's director of player personnel and that he was taking notes on formations for a summer-league team.

The Tiger-Cats confiscated the notes and escorted him out of Ivor Wynne Stadium.

"The commissioner has fully reviewed the incident that was brought to his attention," Mark Cohon's office said in a statement.

"The commissioner has informed the Winnipeg Football Club and all member clubs that this type of practice is unacceptable and similar incidents in the future may result in disciplinary action. The incident involving Winnipeg is being managed internally."

The Tiger-Cats (1-1) host the Blue Bombers (1-1) on Saturday night (6 p.m. ET).
