Winnipeg police have arrested a man in connection with a deliberately set fire at a home owned by former Governor General Edward Schreyer.

The home in Winnipeg's Wolesley area was consumed by a large fire on Friday.

Schreyer's son Tobin and his family lived in the house. No one was home at the time of the blaze. Damage has been estimated at $250,000.

A 33-year-old man faces arson-related charges.
