State of local emergency declared for Patricia Beach
RM of St. Clements says it has to build dike, dig ditches to protect properties from Lake Winnipeg waves
Another Lake Winnipeg rural municipality has declared a state of emergency.
Late Friday, the RM of St. Clements said it is declaring a state of local emergency for Patricia Beach, about an hour north of Winnipeg.
In a news release, Mayor Steve Strang said the RM is planning to build a dike to protect the properties there and may have to enter private property.
It is advising residents it may have to raise the road network and dig ditches.
Strang said an information session will be held in the coming days to keep residents informed.
The RM of St. Clements declaring a state of local emergency comes after the RM of Victoria did the same earlier this week.
