CAA wants to help you spring clean your garage.

The drivers' lobby group is offering to take old tires, motor oil or car batteries and dispose of them properly.

CAA's Angele Faucher said the program, now in its third year, has been very successful.

"The amount of oil that we have collected over the past three years, if it was on a slick it would cover Lake Winnipeg," she said.

Items can be dropped free of charge Saturday until 4 p.m. at

  • Degagne Motors, 366 Marion St. 
  • West Kildonan Auto, 1737 Main St. 
  • Under the Hood, 1-1871 Pembina Highway
  • Canada Auto, 1688 St. Matthew's Ave. 

and Sunday from 1 p.m. til 4 p.m. at: 

  • FortWhyte Alive, 1961 McCreary Rd. (but oil is not accepted at this location)

In Brandon, materials can be dropped off on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at

  • Princess Park - 9th and Princess

CAA is also offering free battery tests, eco-checks of vehicles, and coupons.
