Warm temperatures and flood waters are affecting some skating trails on the Assiniboine River this weekend.

The river trail from The Forks to the Main Street bridge is closed until further notice.

All access points at Hugo, Spence the legislative building and the Donald Street bridge remain closed as well.

Officials told CBC flood water from the Shellmouth Dam is covering most of the surface near the access points, making it too slushy for skating.

Some warming huts are also being removed.

If the warm weather continues, it could force more closures, officials said.

Officials added the trails have never stayed open past the second week of March.
