Snowy, icy highway conditions resulted in a number of crashes on Thursday, including one involving the RCMP.
The RCMP vehicle was hit while responding to another collision on Highway 3 just off the Perimeter Highway by Oak Bluff.
It happened shortly before 11 a.m. The police vehicle was rear-ended after the officer stopped to help the drivers of other vehicles that had spun off into the ditch.
There were no serious injuries.
Earlier in the day, just before 8 a.m., two women were sent to hospital after a crash on Highway 67 and Road 7E in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood.
A Mazda 6 was turning from the trailer park when it was hit by an eastbound Pontiac G6, RCMP said.
The 20-year-old woman driving the Mazda and the 53-year-old woman driving the Pontiac were sent to hospital for precautionary measures.
Poor visibility was a contributing factor in the collision, RCMP said.
There were also numerous crashes reported in and just outside Winnipeg during the morning commute.
Heavy snow at the time, swirled by the wind, created dangerous conditions.
