A section of Sherbrook Street is closed tonight as city crews work on connecting sewer lines for the women's hospital being built in the area.
Sherbrook between William Avenue and Elgin Avenue is set to close at 6 p.m. Friday. It will reopen by 6 p.m. Sunday.
The City of Winnipeg is asking motorists to use Isabel and Arlington streets as alternate routes over the weekend.
Winnipeg Transit riders who take routes along Sherbrook Avenue should check Transit's website for information on route changes.
Also starting this weekend is the city's fall street cleanup, meaning motorists should look out for temporary "no parking" signs that will be posted on streets over the next two to three weeks.
The cleanup will start Sunday evening, weather permitting.
City officials are advising property owners not to rake their leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste onto the streets or in manholes or ditches, as doing so can cause flooding problems.
