Sex offender moving to Winnipeg, police warn
A convicted sex offender considered at high risk to re‑offend is being released from prison and expected to live in Winnipeg.
All females are at risk, states a news release from the Manitoba Integrated High Risk Sex Offender Unit (MIHRSOU), a joint forces unit of the Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP.
Kenton Richard Bryer, also known as Richard Dale Bryer, is being released from Bowden Institution in Alberta on July 29 after serving a 10-year sentence (three-year prison sentence consecutive to a seven-year prison sentence regarding previous convictions) forsexual assault with a weapon.
Bryer, 49, has a lengthy history of violent and sexual offences and is designated a long-term offender. Upon release he will be subject to a 10-year supervision order.
Although he has participated in some treatment programming in the past, Bryer is still considered at high-risk to re-offend in a sexual and/or violent manner, according to the MIHRSOU.
"This information is provided to enable members of the public to take suitable measures to protect themselves. Any form of vigilante activity or other unreasonable conduct directed at Kenton Richard Bryer will not be tolerated," stated the release from the MIHRSOU.
