A severe thunderstorm warning ended for parts of western Manitoba on Friday evening.

Environment Canada issued the warning just after 5 p.m. Friday, saying the thunderstorm system could produce very strong wind gusts and hail the size of dimes or even ping pong balls.

The warning covered Riding Mountain National Park and the rural municipalities of Dauphin, Ethelbert, Gilbert Plains, Grandview, Hillsburg, Mossey River, Ochre River and Shell River.

By 9:42 p.m., the warnings were ended and replaced with thunderstorm watches.
