The Seven Oaks Pool in Winnipeg is closed for the time being, as crews clean up a major mess inside.

The City of Winnipeg swimming pool, located on 444 Adsum Drive, was closed on Monday afternoon due to a "major fouling incident," according to a city spokesperson.

On a scale of one to 10, the spokesperson described the situation as a 10.

The facility is closed until further notice while staff thoroughly clean the pool — including its filtration system — and have the water tested by a laboratory to ensure fecal matter is no longer present, according to the city.

Officials say they don't know when the pool will reopen.

Program registrants and groups that may be impacted by the closure will be contacted by city staff in the meantime.
