Senior dies in Manitoba highway crash
An 80-year-old man from Anola, Man. died Thursday in a head-on collision just east of his community, RCMP said.
The man was driving north on Highway 302 three kilometres north of Highway 15 when he struck an oncoming car at about 3:40 p.m. CT, RCMP said.
The 19-year-old woman driving the other vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital and transferred to Winnipeg where she was recovering in stable condition, according to police.
RCMP didn't identify the dead man but said he died at the scene.
Poor driving conditions due to recent snowfall likely contributed to the crash, police said, adding alcohol was not a factor.
Both lanes of Highway 302 were closed completely as police investigated and were expected to reopen by 8 p.m. Thursday.
Anola is about 30 kilometres east of Winnipeg.
