Winnipeggers need to find another way to get their children to school Tuesday if they usually take a school bus.

All divisions in the city have cancelled bus service but the schools themselves remain open for classes.

All Brandon School Division schools are open but no buses are operating outside the city. Buses are running within city limits, however.

The cold weather has forced a handful of rural Manitoba school divisions to cancel classes for the day.

And one final school note, EcoleRiverview has fixed its heating system, so the school is open for classes once again.

End of the cold?

The temperature in Winnipeg at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning was –32 C with a wind chill that made it feel more like –42. In Brandon, it was –30 C and felt like –42.

But Environment Canada is suggesting this could be the end of the cold snap, which has hung on in Manitoba for about three weeks.

The forecast calls for one more deep-freeze day on Wednesday before the daytime temperatures rise to a high of –10 C on Thursday, then –3 C on Friday.

The normal temperatures for this time of year include a high of –12 C and an overnight low of –23 C.
