Rainbow Stage marks its 60th anniversary with an additional production for the first time since 1965.
The three-show season will open with A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline by Dean Regan. The musical, written in Canada, follows singing star Patsy Cline from small town Virginia to fame on the stage of Carnegie Hall, highlighting her strong personality and incredible voice. The show will run from June 6 to June 15.
Next up will be the Mel Brooks classic The Producers. This Tony Award-winning comedic hit documents a down-and-out Broadway producer, Max Bialystock, and his lame attempt to stage the worst, clichéd show ever written in the hopes of making millions. The show, based on the 1967 film, will hit the stage at Kildonan Park July 3 to July 17.
Rounding out the jam-packed summer will be Disney's The Little Mermaid, based on the popular Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. This will mark the Canadian and Winnipeg premiere of the Disney classic, running from Aug.13 to Aug. 29.
Rainbow Stage is Canada's longest running and largest outdoor theatre.
