Sandbagging underway in St. Norbert to combat rising Red River
Volunteers turn out to help sandbag a Cloutier Drive riverfront property Monday
A homeowner in St. Norbert got some volunteer muscle power to fight back the rising Red River Monday afternoon.
Approximately 14 volunteers started sandbagging a riverfront property on Cloutier Drive at 3 p.m., which is just south of the perimeter near Pembina Highway.
Dave Gaudreu, MLA for St. Norbert, received warning from an emergency measures organization early Monday, so he put out the call for volunteers.
In just a few hours a nearly metre-high dike was erected along the backside of the house.
