The woman and another female employee of the Ultracuts salon near Portage Avenue and Cavalier Drive were taken to hospital following the crash, which took place at around 5:45 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Winnipeg police say a 32-year-old man was driving a Jeep Liberty northbound in the area of Rouge Road and Allard Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle moved across Portage Avenue from Rouge Road, went over the curb and veered across the parking lot of a Safeway before crashing into the salon.

The other salon employee was last reported to be in stable condition. The driver was not injured.

Police are investigating the crash, but they say drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
