Winnipeg's photo-enforcement program is making city streets safer for drivers, according to a new report.

There has been a 46 per cent decrease in severe right-angle crashes at camera-equipped intersections, the Traffic Injury Research Foundation says. It also found there has been a 24 per cent decrease in injury crashes at those intersections.

However, rear-end crashes have spiked by 15 per cent, the foundation said.

A public opinion poll conducted for the report found overwhelming support for photo enforcement.
