RCMP say alarming discovery a coyote, not family pet
Officials rule skinned carcass found in Hanover ditch a coyote, not dog
RCMP say a skinned animal found near Steinbach in January was a coyote — not a dog as originally suspected.
Residents in the area alerted officers when they found the remains of what looked like a dog on Jan. 9.
The animal had been skinned and was posed in an odd position in a snowy ditch in the RM of Hanover.
Manitoba’s Office of the Chief Veterinarian said tests on the remains showed the animal was a coyote.
Residents in the area were concerned it could’ve been a family’s pet, as several dogs had gone missing in the area around the same time.
