Pride Winnipeg is holding a launch party Friday night to promote 2013’s Pride Festival and get cash for the event.
Thursday the non-profit organization revealed the theme for 2013’s festival.
The annual festival that attracts 30,000 will occur under the theme "EquaLL" this year.
"It’s something that we thought would be interesting to bring to the front," said Craig Theriault, the vice president of Pride Winnipeg. "In Canada, we enjoy a lot of equal human rights, but that’s not the case around the world."
Theriault said the capitalized ALL in the theme is to support equal-rights globally, rather than just locally.
Winnipeg’s Pride Festival will run from May 24 to June 2.
The organization’s first fundraiser of the year is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. at Gio’s Club and Bar on Smith Street.
Pride Winnipeg is a non-profit organization run by volunteers.
