A judge in Winnipeg will decide whether a man, accused of killing a hair stylist when his vehicle crashed into a Portage Avenue salon in 2012, should stand trial.

Adebola Shoyoye has pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal negligence causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death in connection with the April 7, 2012, crash that killed Kendall Wiebe, 27.

His preliminary hearing his being held this week.

Wiebe and another woman were working at the salon near Portage Avenue and Cavalier Drive when a Jeep Liberty drove into the store.

At the time of the crash, police said the man was driving the Jeep northbound in the area of Rouge Road and Allard Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle.

The Jeep moved across Portage Avenue, went over the curb and veered across the parking lot of a Safeway at a high rate of speed before crashing into the salon.
