Three hydro poles, including one with a transformer, crashed to the ground Wednesday in southwest Winnipeg.

It is believed a truck leaving the snow dump site near Wilkes Avenue and the Perimeter Highway failed to lower its dump trailer, which hooked the overhead power lines and pulled them down.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m.

Manitoba Hydro crews are working in the area to restore the poles and lines.

Wilkes has been closed at the Perimeter and both the on-ramp and off-ramp for the Perimeter in that area is blocked to traffic.

RCMP are investigating the incident but no further information is available at this time.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed it to call them at 204-831-5929.
