A large police presence gathered in Tuxedo Friday afternoon, with multiple cruiser cars and the dog unit swarming the area.

At least a dozen armed officers, some carrying automatic weapons, could be seen at Tuxedo Avenue and Doncaster Street around 2 p.m. One officer was seen with a shotgun and a shield, crouching behind an SUV.

An ambulance was also spotted at the scene.

Police would not say why they were in the area, only saying the presence was part of an ongoing investigation.

They sent out a release around 2:45 p.m., advising motorists and pedestrians to stay away from the 1800 block of Wellington Crescent. Motorists were told to expect delays.

A resident in the area told CBC reporters he was told there was a man with a gun in the area.
