Police search Red River after teen seen jumping off bridge
Winnipeg police say teen ran through traffic shortly before jumping from St. Vital Bridge
Search and rescue crews will be deployed on the Red River in Winnipeg today, while police continue their search for a teen who may have jumped into the water over the weekend.
Police said they received a report that a boy in his late teens jumped off of the St. Vital Bridge on Saturday.
Officers believe the boy was running through traffic near Jubilee Avenue and Osborne Street shortly before he jumped.
Now, underwater search and rescue crews are searching the river for the teen’s body.
Police said the boy looked to be between 16 and 19 years-old with a small build and short stature.
Officers have not said what may have caused the incident.
