Police in Winnipeg investigated the discovery of a body on a Canadian National Railway track in the city's St. Boniface area on Monday afternoon.

A train was travelling eastbound near La Verendrye Street and La Fleche Street when crews spotted a body lying on the tracks and stopped just short of the scene.

Canadian National Railway officials investigated the incident, but said the CN train crew that discovered the body was not operating the train that hit the person.

Police have since determined that no foul play was involved.
