Police have charged five suspects after two women were robbed in unrelated attacks.

The latest happened at around 1:50 a.m. Saturday when a 38-year-old woman was confronted by a man and a woman while walking in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue.

She told police she was threatened with a large knife and had her purse stolen. The woman flagged down police and told them what happened.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman a short time later.

The are both facing several charges including robbery with a weapon and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.

Woman robbed, assaulted Friday

Friday night at about 8 p.m. officers begun their search for three suspects after a 49-year-old woman was robbed and assaulted in the area of Balmoral Street and Cumberland Avenue.

Three women approached the victim, physically assaulted her and took several possessions including cash.

Police traced down the female suspects, all in their early 20s, and have charged them with robbery with violence.
