Winnipeg Police have released the name of a 25-year-old man killed on Winnipeg's Robinson Street early Friday.

Phillepp Rick George Amos, of Winnipeg, died from stab wounds and blunt force trauma, police said.

Emergency crews responded to the 100 block of Robinson Street at about 4 a.m. on Friday where they found Amos along with another 38-year-old man.

Both men were rushed to hospital — the 38-year-old was in stable condition, while Amos was in critical condition and later died of his injuries.

Police gave few details about the incident on Friday.

A woman who lives in the area, but didn't want her name published, told CBC News there was a fight and the men were attacked by someone who appeared to have a machete.

She came outside after the fight had ended and helped the 25-year-old, who had suffered a large wound to his chest, she said.

No arrests have been made to date. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them.
