An 18-year-old man is in police custody after he allegedly entered a home with what appeared to be an automatic weapon.
Armed police officers entered the home in the 600 block of Union Avenue East in Winnipeg's Elmwood neighbourhood after surrounding a home for four hours.
Const. Eric Hofley said police got a report of a firearm seen around 9:30 Saturday morning.
Police blocked off a number of streets during the incident.
Hofley said as many as 10 cruisers attended to check it out.
"It was within a residence so there's a huge perimeter you set up and you want to make sure people are safe in that so people on scene there would be on the perimeter itself to ensure pedestrian and vehicle traffic isn't going in."
Police say an airsoft rifle with magazine was seized. Emergency responders packed up and left the area around 2 p.m. The man was charged with failing to comply with condition recognizance.
