Winnipeg emergency crews spent part of Thursday afternoon at the scene of a crash involving a police cruiser and another vehicle on Portage Avenue and Berry Street.
Police say no one was seriously hurt in the incident, at around 3:40 p.m.
Marv Kraut, who owns Canadian Supershop at the corner of Portage and Berry, said it appears the police cruiser was heading west, with its lights and sirens on, when a woman driving a Chevrolet Cobalt tried to turn north onto Berry.
"I was doing some paperwork in my office and heard the police sirens going, and then felt this incredible impact shaking the whole building," Kraut told CBC News.
Kraut said the officers got out of their heavily damaged vehicle right away and tended to the woman in the Cobalt.
Westbound Portage Avenue at Queen Street and southbound Berry Street between Portage Avenue and Ness Avenue were closed to traffic during part of the rush hour, but both roadways have since reopened to traffic.
Kraut said a similar crash happened a few years ago at his store, but on that occasion the squad car crashed through his plate glass window and into the building.
