Two police cadets foiled a robbery attempt in downtown Winnipeg on Wednesday.

The members of the Winnipeg Police Service Auxiliary Cadets were on foot patrol in the area of Edmonton Street and Qu’Appelle Avenue at about 6 p.m. when two people trying to rob a woman saw them and ran off.

The cadets called in a report and police units rushed into the area and found the suspects in the area of Balmoral Street and Notre Dame Avenue.

A 27-year-old woman from Swan Lake, Man., and a 34-year-old woman from Winnipeg are now facing robbery charges.
