Plane forced to land in Winnipeg after smoke fills cockpit
Skywest plane headed for Minneapolis turns around and lands in Winnipeg after mysterious smoke
A Minneapolis-bound plane was forced to land in Winnipeg Friday afternoon after smoke began to fill the cockpit.
The Skywest Jet took off from the Winnipeg airport around 1 p.m., but shortly after departing the pilots were surrounded by smoke and were forced to turn around.
About 20 minutes later the plane landed safely at the James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
All crew and 53 passengers are now safe on the ground, and officials are looking into what caused the smoke.
